Sept. 22-24: Prague Czech Republic — The morning of the 22nd was the end of the Danube Cruise, and we were taken by bus from Passau to Prague and checked into the Imperial Art Deco Hotel. Tom, Peggy, and Bill, who had been traveling in Austria, also arrived in Prague on the 22nd, for Gary’s 80th Birthday (you’d almost think we planned this). They joined us in the hotel lounge, and then we all went to the nearby and aptly named Beer Restaurant for dinner and a family birthday celebration.

The next morning, I (Ginny) joined the tour to Prague Castle and St. Vitus Cathedral. In the afternoon, we walked around Old Town and crossed the Charles Bridge. In the evening, we took the subway to U Fleku for dinner (a very fun place). On the 24th, the five of us went to the castle and St. Vitus Cathedral, walked down to and across the Charles Bridge and into Old Town. We had dinner at the Hard Rock Café, as we often do on our last night anywhere. The origin of this “unusual” family tradition can be summed up in 5 words: 2003, August, Paris, air conditioning.
